About ‘December In GH’ [ #DecemberInGH ]
‘December In GH’ is a unique package of events and programs to make Ghana the preferred tourism destination for Christmas and New Year. #DecemberInGH #ExperienceGhana #ShareGhana.
Ghana Tourism Authority launched the annual “December in GH” program to promote Ghana as a December holiday season destination, not only for the Ghanaian diaspora, but for the global diaspora family. “December in GH” has been one of most successful initiatives to date in terms of international arrivals, tourist expenditures, stimulating the economy and welcoming the diaspora to visit Ghana.
History
Ghana has traditionally had citizens in the diaspora returning home each Yuletide to visit family and friends. Based on that, ‘December In Gh’ (December In Ghana) was introduced as a new tourism campaign/program by the Ghana Tourism Authority to drive people to Ghana which is increasingly becoming the destination for Christmas and New Year celebrations. In 2018 some Hollywood stars and their friends and families numbering about one hundred and fifty spent their yuletide in Ghana for a festival dubbed the Full Circle Festival (#fullcirclefestival ) led by Boris Kodjoe. This was followed in 2019/2020, some 500 stars including their friends and families will be celebrating the Christmas and New year in Ghana.
The campaign is also to create an experience that will focus on showcasing Ghana as global destination for Christmas and New Year celebration with events highlighting Ghana’s unique role as an epicentre for culture and entertainment.
